Lady Lazarus
VR Documentary
Lady Lazarus invites viewers into the apartment where Kluijfhout's friend tragically ended her life. As you navigate through the space, you encounter the voices of her friends, each offering personal reflections and memories. Your unique journey through the apartment raises the poignant question: "Why?" However, as you progress, parts of the apartment begin to vanish, symbolizing the elusive nature of understanding after sudden loss.
In 2025, Lady Lazarus was selected for the Venice Gap-Financing Market, part of the Venice Production Bridge, highlighting its potential in the immersive media landscape.

Birth of Acoya
Commissioned short doc
Akoya pearls are cultivated by families with generations of expertise. A small round bead, usually made from shell material (called a nucleus), is carefully inserted by hand into the oyster. The oyster reacts to the bead as a foreign object, gradually layering it with nacre. This process typically takes 1–2 years for a small pearl, and longer for larger, perfectly round pearls. Once matured, the pearl is harvested—a process requiring immense time, skill, and dedication.
Akoya pearls come from the Pinctada fucata oyster, primarily farmed in Japan, and are celebrated for their round shape, high luster, and delicate colors ranging from white to pale pink. Mr. Noritsugu Matsuda, a renowned pearl farmer from Omura Bay in Nagasaki, is known for producing these exceptional pearls. This poetic film captures the remarkable process.

Searching for Sugarman
Podcast from the Dutch podcastseries ‘Goed Verhaal - Podimo & Alexander Klöpping’
Willemiek Kluifhout had a fantastic idea years ago for a documentary about the American artist Rodriguez. She made a plan, applied for financing, and years later the documentary Searching for Sugar Man about Rodriguez won an Oscar. Only... Willemiek never actually made the film.
